The coast of Catalonia invites you to sail and experience the feeling of freedom and communion with the sea. Sailing is a nautical form widely practised in the Catalan Mediterranean due to its pleasant climate and its coast full of beaches and coves to anchor. If you are a lover of sailing, you can tame the wind and the waves in several courses in nautical resorts and sailing clubs on the Costa Daurada. You're at the helm: top sailing destinations As sports tourism destinations, the municipalities of Salou and Cambrils, on the Costa Daurada, and Ametlla de Mar, in the Terres de l'Ebre, offer you a complete offer and infrastructures focused on water sports. If you are interested in obtaining an official qualification, the Sailing School of the Nautical Club of Salou and the Nautical Academy of the Nautical Club of Cambrils offer introductory, advanced and technical courses adapted to all ages. They also organize competitions and sporting events throughout the year. In addition to sailing, most schools have complementary activities to enjoy the sea such as windsurfing, kayaking and paddle surf. At Ametlla de Mar, one of the little jewels of the sea of the Terres de l’Ebre very close to the Ebre delta, sailing is one of the leading nautical forms. The sailing school of the Nautical Club of Ametlla de Mar offers sailing courses in its three ports: the municipal one and the two private ones, Calafat and Marina Sant Jordi. In addition, in this town there is a treasure under the sea that you can discover by diving. In the depths of the Gulf of Sant Jordi you will find the remains of sunken ships during the First World War. Once the Allied ships had passed the Ebre delta, they went directly to Tarragona on the open sea, in a dangerous manoeuvre to save time. More than one sank in the area, torpedoed by German submarines. Heading to the Costa Daurada Nautical Station Learning, practising and combining various water sports is what the Costa Daurada Nautical Station offers. Perfect your sailing technique in a route between Salou and Cambrils and combine it with a session of cable ski at a wake park. You will glide over the sea, jumping over the kickers. The resort also organizes trips on large catamarans to enjoy all-inclusive sailing days. Navigation is by sail and anchors in a cove between Cap de Salou and La Pineda. On the shores of Cap de Salou there are many coves to anchor at such as Morisca, Vinya and Penya Tallada or Crancs. The good visibility means that you can see the seabed very well. The trip includes a barbecue on board the boat. When are you coming to sail the waters of the Mediterranean?
