Day 1: The Puigcerdà novel Have you heard of Carlos Ruiz Zafón? He is the author of best-sellers such as The Shadow of the Wind or The Angel's Game. Part of the plot of this last title takes place in the city of Puigcerdà. There they have created a literary route that covers all the hidden corners that the writer describes in the novel. Walking around the municipality with this literary pretext is such a pleasure. After the walk and a few minutes from Puigcerdà you can buy some of the exquisite dairy products from Molí de Ger. Its matured Roques Blanques cheese is a really great reserve. In the afternoon you have two options: if you are more intrepid, at the Aerodrom de la Cerdanya you can practise flying without an engine and soar over the Pyrenees of Catalonia. If not, you can improve your handicap at Real Club de Golf Cerdanya. When you take a swing and follow the trajectory of the ball with your eyes, it will seem that it is going to fall on one of the snowy peaks of the Pyrenees that can be seen on the horizon. It is only an illusion; if it slips away from sight, you can easily look for it! Day 2: Gaudí's footprint in the Pyrenees of Catalonia If there is a typically nordic snow track, is that of a dog sled sliding through the snow. At the ski resort of La Molina they have adapted this sport to the good weather and do sledge routes through the woods. These are excursions of between 5 and 15 kilometres in a sledge with wheels, specially adapted to slide on the ground. If you've tried it in the winter, it's time to try it in the summer. Your children will immediately be up for the plan. The route will continue to the Pobla de Lillet. There are some of the most interesting gardens in the Pyrenees of Catalonia, the Jardins Artigas When you know the name the garden's architect, you will know that we are not exaggerating in the description: it was none other than Antoni Gaudí. He designed them on behalf of the Artigas family, owners of one of the main textile factories in the area, Ca l'Artigas. Today it is a paper factory. We are not moving from La Pobla de Lillet, because the next proposal is a tour on the Tren del Ciment. You must have tried numerous routes on a train, but have you ever done one on cement? Don't worry, it's not a master class on geology, and you won't have to get dirty. This is the train that runs along the line that connected the old Asland cement factory, in Castellar de n'Hug, with Guardiola de Berguedà. The narrow-gauge railway line that took the cement to Berga and Manresa started from there. The trip will show you a completely different perspective of Berguedà. Day 3: In Bagà discover organic cuisine The third day begins with a walk to stretch the legs through the Cadí Moixeró Natural Park. The two large mountain ranges of Cadí and Moixeró, joined by the Tancalaporta pass, form an impressive mountainous barrier, stretching from west to east, for about 30 kilometres. The low temperatures, the altitude and the high degree of humidity allow the existence of species typical of northern Europe: black pines, spruces, oaks... Inhabited by deer, chamois and roe deer. Pedraforca stands out among the peaks, with its peculiar shape and famous because it is one of the symbols of hiking in Catalonia. We reserve the afternoon to visit the Wool Factory Museum, which preserves in perfect condition the original machinery for working wool, and the Accordion Museum. Did you know that around 1880 some farmers and shepherds in the Pyrenees of Catalonia started playing the accordion? In this museum you will find out why. Day 4: Nordic walking continues to gain followers at Seu d'Urgell If you are asked what the most well-rounded sport out there is, swimming most likely comes to mind. Well, you should add Nordic walking to your list. At Seu d'Urgell it's gaining more and more followers because, in addition to enjoying nature, you work 90% of your body's muscles. Encourage yourself to do one of the various routes available with this heart-healthy activity. The day will continue in an edible garden. Yes, you read that right, edible. In the Jardí del Sabors, in the rural house Cal Serni, you will walk through different natural spaces where you will find aromatic plants, medicines, vegetables, fruit trees... you will smell their aromas and taste them. You can conclude the fourth day of the route with a cheese tasting at Mas d'Eroles. They are made using the traditional method with the latest equipment. Day 5: Ancestral medicine in Ossera The day will end with you becoming a doctor and amateur naturist. In Ossera you will discover all the secrets about medicinal plants. You will learn to create lavender essential oil, healing ointments, medicinal oils... nature will be your best first aid kit! To complement this knowledge of natural medicine, we suggest you incorporate some into your natural gastronomy. At Cal Casal, also in Ossera, you will be taught artisan techniques for making jams. So you can enjoy the flavours of spring and summer also in winter. The next suggestion you have to take note of if you are travelling as a family. Later go to the Pyrenean Zoo. This is the fastest way to get to know all the Pyrenean fauna of Catalonia explained by an expert. You have another very different option in Organyà. You can feel free flying over the Alt Urgell region in paraglider. Day 6: Gósol: the corner that inspired Picasso Picasso's relationship with Catalonia has been intense and fertile. His various stays in these lands always bore fruit in the form of pictorial creations. One of the corners that the artist chose to install his studio was Gósol. There he created works such as 'The Portrait of Gertrude Stein' or 'The Harem'. You will discover this fundamental stage in the artist's career in more detail at the Centre Picasso, which collects more than 300 facsimiles that the painter created in Gósol. The day can be a cultural one in Vansa and Fórnols. There is the church of Sant Julià dels Garrics, located at the bottom of the Bona river valley, which was built in the 11th century. Inside there is an interesting Gothic altarpiece, from the end of the 16th century, dedicated to the life of Sant Julià. Day 7: Jurassic Day in La Fumanya< /p> Dinosaurs are one of the most fascinating animals that have inhabited the earth. Just thinking about their enormous dimensions is surprising. Fumanya is an important paleontological site full of dinosaur footprints. They form traces of up to 80 metres, some of them very close, and follow a parallel direction. Most of the prints belong to the group of sauropods called titanosaurs. It's very easy to visit it with the Carrilet Verd, a train with an audio guide so you don't miss any detail. If you're an active person, you'll like to practise canyoning and climbing in one of the many via ferratas in Vallcebre. Or if you prefer, go deep into the forest, with a keen eye, to look for mushrooms, a typically Catalan tradition. Day 8: Fuives: the Mecca of the Catalan donkey In Catalonia talking about the Catalan ass is not offensive, it refers to the native donkey species. It is considered one of the best breeds in the world for its size, which makes it a great work tool for any farmer. In Berga there is Fuives, the world centre of the Catalan donkey. Joan Gassó is the promoter of this centre and he himself will welcome you if you come to visit it. You can even buy cosmetics made with donkey milk. They may not have a very attractive brand name, but their nourishing qualities for the skin are numerous. After visiting Fuives, stop by Baells reservoir and enjoy the different water activities and sports that take place there: water skiing, kayaking, ski-surfing, canoe trips... If it's hot, you'll appreciate it. Now that the end of the route is near, take the opportunity to recharge your batteries a little with a wellness treatment at Spa Berga Resort. Day 9: The textile past of Berguedà Today you will wake up like new. It's a good time to take the bike and go for a ride! The region of Berguedà offers you excellent conditions for cycling: it has flat paths, with steep gradients, cultural heritage and natural wealth. Another good option to explore this region is a horse trail. Along the way you will see some of the most beautiful corners of Berguedà, such as the mountain of Figuerassa, the grain meadows of Espunyola... Many of these places can only be accessed thanks to this 4x4 horse. < p>Where you won't need a horse is on the Llobregat textiles village route. This is a type of typically Catalan industrial construction from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The route is 32 kilometres long, so you decide whether you want to dedicate a whole day to it or choose the stage that suits you best. Knowing the history of Catalonia is impossible without knowing what the textile factory village are. Day 10: A day at the Alt Urgell beach The reservoirs are the inland beaches. In the Rialb reservoir, kayaking is a pleasure thanks to the tranquility of its waters. Of course, if you feel like it, just like on any beach, you can lay down on the shore to sunbathe and, moreover, you won't end up covered in sand! The colophon to this Pyrenean route will be the visit to the neolithic necropolises of Ceuró, Clots del Solà and Llor. Do you have your bags ready to visit the Pyrenees of Catalonia?
