Located in the middle of the Costa Brava, Calella de Palafrugell retains the charm of an old fishing village. If anything characterises the municipality, it is the white facades with colorful porticos, the narrow streets between the houses and the small rocky coves. Getting lost in its streets is a pleasure. Stroll through the historic centre of Port Bo and les Voltes, an arcaded street with large arches facing the sea. You will find restaurants specialising in seafood cuisine. From there, several alleys lead into the town to the church of Sant Pere, from the end of the 19th century, with a large clock in the bell tower. Back at the sea, go to Passeig del Canadell and swim on its beach. Another of the most visited places in this charming village is the botanical garden of Cap Roig. From its viewpoints you have spectacular views of the coast, the sea and the small archipelago of Les Formigues. This garden hosts the popular Cap Roig Festival of music and dance in the summer. There are many ways to enjoy Calella de Palafrugell: from the sea, with a kayak; by bike, along its network of paths; with snorkel and goggles, snorkelling along its seabed; or on foot, along the Camí de Ronda. And after some active tourism, regain your strength with its gastronomy. A recommendation: try the sea urchins, if they are in season, with wine from the DO Empordà. One of the most special moments in the village is the traditional cantada of the Habaneres, a must-see event that takes place on first Saturday in July and has done for more than 50 years. Several groups perform live and the public accompany the concerts with cremat, a hot drink based on coffee, rum and cane brandy.
