Taüll is a small town, but of great architectural and artistic value. Located in the Pyrenees of Catalonia and surrounded by mountains, it houses a treasure: two of the Romanesque churches of the Vall de Boí, declared Heritage of Humanity by Unesco in 2000. One of them is the church of Sant Climent, which is located in the lower part of the town and is the most emblematic of the Catalan Romanesque. It is of Lombard style and stands out for its impressive six-story bell tower. Visit it to enjoy a video mapping projection inside, which recreates how the church was painted in the 12th century. The original murals are in the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya. Continue the walk through the streets of the town and also visit the church of Santa Maria, located in the Plaça Major. From here you can start the Camí de la Santeta, which in 15 minutes will take you to a privileged viewpoint of the valley. The village has another viewpoint, the Cuirilles viewpoint, half an hour's walk away, from where you will appreciate Taüll protected by the Pyrenean peaks. You can't leave this Charming Village without tasting its most typical product: the artisanal cheese made by the Taüll Cheese Factory. They have herds on organic pastures, offer guided tours, and have received several awards for their excellent production. The passion for this product is showcased at the Cheese Fair, which the village celebrates in August, where you will find stalls of cheeses and artisanal products. Another special time to visit Taüll is during its main festival, on the third weekend of July. At night, you can enjoy the "baixada de les Falles," when a snake of torches descends from the highest point of the mountain and winds through the village streets. It is an unforgettable experience that, along with other fallas celebrated in the Catalan Pyrenees, has also been declared Intangible Heritage by UNESCO.
