Just over 3 and a half hours from Barcelona is the Val d'Aran. A valley which is different from the rest of the Catalan valleys, being on the Atlantic side of the country. In addition, it has its own culture and language: Aranese. In its natural surroundings there are charming small towns, Romanesque churches from the 11th and 12th centuries and numerous waterfalls such as the Saut deth Pish, the most important of them.On this route we sugged 3 days of thermal baths and natural immersion in this valley of the Baqueira Beret, which only opens during this season.The 2-night stay will be at the Hotel Xalet Val de Ruda, located 4 minutes' walk from the ski resort of Baqueira Beret. This high mountain establishment offers all the services adapted to the needs of skiers and nature lovers. Wood is the protagonist in the interior design of this hotel, which has its own spa where they offer personalised treatments.Day 1: Visit to a caviar production centre in the Val d'AranOn the first day of the route you move to the fish farm of Caviar Nacarii, in Les. Here Aran Experience has organised a guided tour of these facilities for you to learn about the caviar production process, the freses de l'esturió. In this centre you will learn through a monograph all the secrets of this food and also about the river fish and lagoon fish. At the end of the visit, a caviar tasting awaits you accompanied by a glass of cava.This activity is highly recommended for families. Children are curious to learn how sturgeons live and feed in the fish farm.Day 2: Chairlift ride at 2,200 metres in the Val d'Aran On the second day, at the ski resort of Baqueira Beret you will climb the Blanhiblar chairlift to enjoy the views of the Val d'Aran. The ride on this chairlift can only be done in the months of July and August. The lift rises to a height of 2,220 metres. From there you can contemplate the high mountain landscape of Pla de Beret and Vall de Ruda. This valley of glacial origin is home to black pine forests and numerous glacial lakes located between steep peaks.You can also see the Aneto peaks, the highest in the Pyrenees, at 3,404 metres, and the Montardo mountain, which is 2,833 metres high and is well known for being the most complete viewpoint in the Val d'Aran. From its summit you can enjoy the views of many other mountains in the area. It is located to the north of the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park, and to the south of Val d'Aran.The Blanhiblar chairlift allows you to take bikes up, so it is possible to enjoy mountain bike routes through the natural environment that surrounds the ski resort.Day 3: Thermal and Romanesque in the Vall de BoíA day of relaxation awaits you on the last day of the route. A spa session at the Estacio Termal de Caldes de Boí, in Vall de Boí. This thermal centre is one of the most important in Catalonia due to the quantity and diversity of waters. It offers a wide variety of therapeutic treatments, as it has 37 sources of mineral-medicinal waters with different compositions and temperatures, between 4 and 56 degrees.It features special caves dug into the rock that function as natural saunas. Sulphurous water vapor from the subsoil is breathed inside. Due to its location, at 1,500 metres above sea level, the spa also offers good views of the valley.In Vall de Boí there is a Romanesque complex of 8 churches and a hermitage from the 11th and 12th centuries, considered one of the most important in the world and declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco.Before finishing this route between the valleys of the Pyrenees of Catalonia, take the opportunity to immerse yourself in the historical and artistic legacy of the area. Tour this Romanesque complex in which the churches of Sant Climent and Santa Maria de Taüll stand out.Take a visit to the Romanesque Centre, a interpretation centre where you will be placed in the context of the time in which they were built and you will understand their importance. In the apse of Sant Climent de Taüll you can see what the original apse was like that is currently preserved at the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya. It will surprise you!
