March is undoubtedly the ideal time to discover these unique landscapes that only the Catalan springtime can offer. The importance of sweet fruits in Catalonia Sweet fruits are one of the country's agricultural treasures, especially in Terres de Lleida, the main production region. The fields of Segrià, Les Garrigues, Urgell and La Segarra are home to thousands of hectares of fruit trees every year that will delight you with their colours. The town of Aitona (Segrià) has become the epicentre of the budding tourism industry around the blossoming of fruit trees. So much so that a brand has been created: Fruiturisme Aitona. This new tourist concept aims visitors to introduce the world of fruit and to encourage them to admire the infinite fields of pinkish colour that cover Segrià during the fleeting days of spring through a variety of routes. They organise walks through fruit orchards, hot air balloon flights, themed routes, educational itineraries for schools, cycling tours and sweet fruit tastings, among many other experiences!
