What about going on a long-distance cycle tour? A journey where you will cross Catalonia from west to east. Imagine yourself pedalling on a long-distance cycle route, enjoying the outdoors and discovering new places, doing sport and seeing new natural areas and little villages, all at the same time.<br><br>The InterCatalunya cycle tour connects Lleida with Girona on a route covering 298 km, passing through towns such as Cervera, Manresa and Vic. The first stretch between Lleida and Cervera, with two stages, is already up and running.<br><b><br>A very varied and well-signposted route</b><br>The InterCatalunya route was creating using existing infrastructure, such as roads that now have little traffic following the opening of the Eix Transversal (C-25 road). The route also makes use of rural paths, sections of urban roads and greenways.<br><br>There is specific signposting to direct cyclists correctly and guarantee their safety. This signposting integrates seamlessly with existing signs in the sections shared with the road network and other local paths.<br><br><b>Bikepacking</b><br>This route lets you cover long distances by bike, combining sport with tourism. Bikepacking, from mid to long-distance, is a non-competitive recreational activity that encourages you to enjoy the outdoors, the landscape and the people you meet along the way. It allows you to explore and discover new places with the people you meet on the journey.<br><br><b>Connection is key</b><br>The InterCatalunya route shares some sections with The Way of Saint James, mainly between Lleida and Cervera as well as other occasional sections between Manresa and Vic. In Lleida, you can continue towards Aragon by following The Way of Saint James.<br><br>In the regions of Girona, the route links up with another long-distance route, the Pirinxeus route, a circular cycle tour between Girona and Catalunya Nord which covers 353 km. It also links up with the El Carrilet greenway, which allows you to join the European cycle route EuroVelo 8, also known as the Mediterranean Route, a Mediterranean cycle tour which links Cádiz with Athens and Cyprus on a journey covering 5,900 km<br><br><b>Arrive by public transport</b>You can leave your car at home for your trip on the InterCatalunya route. You can take your bike on public transport, whether this be on buses or trains. The main towns have train and bus services and the rest have intercity bus services. You will find:<br><br>- High-speed trains in Lleida and Girona. <br>- Regional and suburban trains in Lleida, Mollerussa, Tàrrega, Cervera, Calaf, Manresa, Vic and Girona.<br>- Intercity bus stations in the above towns and others on the route.<br><br>You can take your bike at no cost on all regular intercity bus services operated by the Regional Government of Catalonia. You can also take your bike on suburban trains at any time, provided there is enough space for you to do so.
