The start of the good weather is the perfect time to enjoy Catalonia as a family. The days are getting longer, the trees and plants are coming into bloom, we are leaving the winter behind and now we can finally get outside again with our family. Seafaring and water-loving families In Lloret de Mar, they offer snorkelling trips for you to discover the underwater flora and fauna. Several companies organise boat trips to allow you to get closer to fascinating areas of the Costa Brava coastline, where you will be guided through the waters and shown the wonders of the seabed. Your children will enjoy the freedom of swimming in the sea, the shapes made by the coral and the animals that inhabit it. If you prefer catamaran sailing, at the Pineda de Mar Nautica l Base, on the Costa Barcelona, you can learn how to skipper the boat and even have a dive in the sea if the weather permits. After your sailing expedition, you can choose how to round off your day: you can go kayaking, wakeboarding or have a ride on top of an inflatable banana that is dragged at full speed through the water by a speedboat! Marina S’Agaró invites you to hunt for pirate treasure at Cap de Mort in Sant Feliu de Guíxols, a mysterious rock in the shape of a skull. You will head out from S’Agaró beach, on the Costa Brava, on board a pirate ship. The crew will give you the clues to solve the mystery. Once you disembark on the small beach that surrounds the rock, it will be time to start the treasure hunt! A whole river to navigate your way down In Horta de Sant Joan you can start going down the ravines as a family with the guides from Esgambi. This activity takes place in the Caneletes river, in Els Ports, in the Terres de l’Ebre massif. It is an ideal place to practise the descent of ravines, as there are many gorges along the river and also natural cavities in the rock. The descent, which lasts 4 hours, can be done easily and safely, as you will be accompanied by a professional guide. On the Costa Brava, in l’Estartit, an easy, fun and family-friendly guided tour awaits you, so that you can practise sport and learn about your surroundings: the Ter river, the Gola, the sea and the Illes Medes. First, you will get onto your electric bike and go along the final section of the Ter Route. Once you arrive at La Gola beach, it’s time to swap your bike for a kayak and navigate the calm waters of the river until you reach the sea. The activity is organised by the company Medaqua. Romanesque and astronomical discoveries with your family In Vall de Boí, in the Pyrenees of Catalonia, the Romanesque Centre organises guided family visits to the nine churches of this architectural style. They have been preserved over time and declared World Heritage sites by UNESCO. During the visits, children will get to know Romanesque heritage in a dynamic and interactive way. Inside the church of Sant Climent de Taüll, you can see a video mapping of the original frescoes of the apse and its Pantocrator, which are currently preserved in the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya. The audiovisual spectacle will leave your children speechless! What do the stars look like up close? You can find out at the 3D planetarium at the Montsec Observation of the Universe Centre. You will visit the 3D planetarium, where the audiovisual show Lucia. The secret of the shooting stars will be shown. Here you will discover what asteroids and comets are made of in a very entertaining way. You can also take part in a workshop that will reveal all the secrets of the sun and you can enjoy the exhibitions on astronomy and space science. You can take in the starry night sky somewhere else in Catalonia too, at Les Muntanyes de Prades Astronomical Park. This centre is certified as a Protected Night Environment by the Generalitat de Catalunya and is located in a family tourism destination, Les Muntanyes de Prades. Here you will enjoy family astronomical experience in a unique natural environment. Routes between viewpoints and sanctuaries in the Pyrenees of Catalonia Head up to the “balcony of Catalonia” and enjoy the unbeatable views. The Serra de Queralt in Berga has several paths for you to discover the sanctuary of Santa Maria de Queralt, at an altitude of 1,200 metres. The trails are easy to climb and last an hour and a half. You can enjoy a tour with a guide who will explain all the details that characterise the mountain range. The path has several viewpoints, such as the one at the Guiu spring, where you can take in the views and recharge your batteries. Alt Pirineu is the most extensive natural park in Catalonia. Discover it with a 4×4 guided circular tour through the Orri massif with Visit Sort. You can enjoy magnificent views from the viewpoint at Vall de Siarb and take in the fairy tale landscapes.
