The world of wine is of major importance in Catalonia. Much of our history has both vineyards and winemaking as the main protagonists. If you take it as a central theme, you can discover many things about this land and its inhabitants. You can visit ancient sites and medieval monasteries; delve into true modernist temples and avant-garde architectural works; you will understand the idiosyncrasy of towns and villages... and their landscapes. The vines are lined up by the sea and at the foot of the mountains, in plains and coastal areas, and will guide you to wonderful places. And you will find vineyards and wineries everywhere. The four Catalan demarcations have them, and wines of high quality and international prestige are produced there. Did you know that in Catalonia there are up to twelve denominations of origin? And they all have their own personality and unique character. From the DO Empordà, which flows into the Costa Brava, to the DO Terra Alta, beyond the Ebre river, passing through the DO Costers del Segre, in various locations in the Terres de Lleida and the Pyrenees. From DO Alella, close to Barcelona, to DO Penedès around Vilafranca del Penedès and Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, passing through DO Pla de Bages, at the foot of Montserrat. From the classic DO Tarragona to the modern DO Montsant and DOQ Priorat, without forgetting the DO Conca de Barberà. With DO Catalunya and DO Cava, which cover a large part of the Catalan wine territory. The best news for you is that the world of Catalan wine is waiting for you with open arms and a varied selection of experiences prepared. You will be able to get to know our wines directly from the hands of their producers, in guided tastings in silent barrel rooms or under the sun of the vineyard. You will walk among the vines, go on bicycle or segway tours through seas of vineyards or fly over them in a balloon. You can also rest without having to leave the wine: staying in a winery or enjoying a wine therapy treatment. Check the agenda, come and participate in one of the popular festivals organized around wine. Many have their roots in tradition and others are of more recent creation. The point is that in all of them, you can serve yourself some of Catalonia by the glass!
