We suggest a couple so you can get the most out of your visit to the Pyrenees of Catalonia!Do you dare to build an igloo? Discover your inner Eskimo by learning how to build an igloo. Yes, you read that right, an igloo. No architecture degrees or engineering knowledge required, a specialised monitor is enough. Well, and bricks of pressed snow, a shovel, a saw and some rubber gloves. And family or friends, of course.Ohmamiglú organizes practise mornings to build these igloos on certain Saturdays between January and March. After participating in a morning of it, you will have enough experience to make an igloo on your own.If you come as a family, the children who participate in the building must be of a certain height, since the saws used are 60 cm and the shovels are gardener's. In addition, ice blocks can weigh up to 20 kg. In case you have younger children, there is no problem, because Ohmamiglú has special activities suitable for their age.How was the experience?< p>The igloo buildling is always held in places close to the ski resorts. The usual places are usually Pla d'Anyella and Coll de Pal (La Molina), Vall de Núria, Ulldeter (Vallter2000) or Tuixent-La Vansa. Exceptionally, they can sometimes be done in Tavascan. The activity has a duration of 6 hours. It starts at 10am, when you will meet the instructors at the meeting point indicated. From the meeting place you will make a short excursion, about 15 minutes maximum, to the place chosen for the construction of the igloos. They are always easily accessible places so you can get around comfortably. The workshops are very educational and, of course, everyone is obliged to participate. The monitors make you the absolute protagonist in the entire construction process. They supply the materials to make the ice houses. You just need to wear mountain clothes that protect you from the snow and you can get going with making and placing the snow bricks. If the construction of the igloo is correct, you can get a temperature difference of about 20º between the inside and the outside. It all depends on the ambient temperature, the size of the igloo and the heat sources inside. The heat given off by the human body is sometimes enough. And if it doesn't get much sun and is properly maintained, it can stay upright for months.Dive under the ice without freezing Snow divers? Yes, that's the idea. In the Pyrenees of Catalonia workshops are organised to dive under the ice. The activity takes place in the lac de la Vall de Núria. The lake is one of the iconic elements of the mountain resort, located at an elevation of 1,964 metres and with a depth of approximately seven metres.Have you already dived several times in the sea and you think it's more of the same? Well no buoyancy and atmospheric pressure are different in a fresh water lake at almost 2,000 metres high, which is at a temperature of between 1 and 2 degrees. And the snow, too.The contrasts of light under the ice are spectacular. The sun's rays that filter through the hole in the ice and the oxygen trapped in the frozen layer of water produce an almost kaleidoscopic effect. The activity has a total duration of approximately six hours. Underwater tours are designed for certified divers or those who have completed a minimum number of accredited dives. They can only be done in groups of two or three people, who will be accompanied at all times by an instructor from the company Scuba Alegre. They last around 30 minutes, and must always be booked in advance. The diving equipment is supplied by them.Do you want get out of your routine? How about inside an igloo or under the ice?
