There are places in the world that cannot be measured simply in kilometres, but in the intensity of the emotions they inspire. The Pyrenees of Catalonia are undoubtedly one of those places where the land seems to speak directly to the traveller’s soul. But what if, instead of seeing mountains as barriers, we began to see them as bridges? This is the essence of a truly transformative proposal: to experience the mountain range not as a series of fragmented routes, but as a shared territory where Pyrenean identity flows freely across Spain, France and Andorra. Travelling through the Pyrenees is no longer just about reaching a summit or descending into a valley. It is about immersing yourself in a complete experience, where borders fade into a seamless cultural, natural and human landscape. Catalonia — proud of its welcoming spirit and its rich diversity of scenery — is the perfect gateway to this journey, celebrating the Pyrenees in all their splendour. Here, the traveller is not merely an observer, but the protagonist of a story written with every step, every turn of the pedals, and every bend in the road. This new way of travelling is rooted in a commitment to sharing the Pyrenean heritage responsibly and sustainably. It is an invitation to slow down, to discover hidden corners often overlooked by traditional guidebooks, and to enjoy the mountains in every season. Because the Pyrenees do not stand still when the snow melts — they transform into a kaleidoscope of colours, flavours and traditions, waiting to be explored by those seeking a genuine connection with the land. A new way to discover the Pyrenees The project was created with the aim of presenting the Pyrenees as a single destination to an international audience. At its heart is a new range of long-distance routes that flow across the three countries — Spain, France and Andorra — offering travellers a fully integrated experience. These routes are built on collaboration between local operators from across the Pyrenees and embrace a cross-cutting approach that enriches every journey.More than simply a tourism offering, this initiative introduces a new way to discover the Pyrenees: a continuous experience that brings together the mountain range’s diverse landscapes, cultures and ways of life. It invites visitors to explore at any time of year, and beyond the usual routes. The initiative, led by the Catalan Tourism Agency as part of the Pyrenees of Catalonia strategy, is co-funded by the Interreg VI Spain–France–Andorra Programme (POCTEFA 2021–2027).
