This car tour lasts a day, but in this case you will do it in half a day. A chauffeured vehicle will pick you up to take you into the vineyard landscape of El Priorat. The first stop is Gratallops, where you will do a wine tasting in one of more than 20 wineries of this village, with just 200 inhabitants. Following the route, you reach the Cartoixa de Escaladei, where the oldest winery in El Priorat is located. Here, the Carthusian monks settled in the twelfth century to cultivate the vine. During the visit you will enter the church and the refectory of the monastery, as well as a cell reconstructed in detail where the monks lived.The Celler de Scala Dei has a long history. This is where the first bottles of DOC Priorat wine left for the Universal Exhibition of Paris in 1878. During the visit you will visit its centuries-old fermentation vats and its medieval boot room. Also the old cava from the 17th century where their wines are still aged today. At the end of the visit, you will do a wine tasting with an expert.At noon, you will taste dishes of traditional Catalan cuisine in a restaurant in the area. Take the opportunity to try recipes from El Priorat, such as omelette with a jus, and cod or black sausage.In the afternoon, you move to l'Espluga de Francolí, surrounded by the Natural Area of the Muntanyes de Prades. A visit to the Museum of Rural Life will take you deep into the life of the land. The museum shows how the traditional farmers of the area lived and worked. Inside, rooms of a manor house are recreated and collections of tools and utensils used by farmers to work are exhibited.There are also sections dedicated to the slaughter of pigs, to hunters, the market, to clothing… The aim of the museum is to disseminate the importance of good practices of rural life for the conservation of the planet.Day 2: Excursion + wine tasting in the Lloar and modernist route in Reus< /b>On the second day of the route you go to Lloar. In this locality of El Priorat you will try the excursion Trek&Wine, Vineyards from a bird's eye view, organised by the Reus. You will take the Modernist Route, a pleasant walk through the historic center of this town, where you will admire the facades of 29 buildings and also see the interior, usually closed to the public.Casa Navàs and the Institut Pere Mata, designed by the architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner, are part of the route. They all incorporate colorful stained glass windows, ceramic mosaics, Gothic-inspired doors and wrought iron typical of Modernisme.If you have time, take the opportunity to do the Gaudí&Reus route, which goes through spaces of the Gaudí's childhood, born in this town. You will visit his birthplace and also the church of Sant Pere, where he was baptised. Gaudí recreated the design of the interior staircase of this church on the staircases of the bell towers of the Sagrada Família in Barcelona. The route includes a visit to the Gaudi Centre, the only interpretation centre on the life and work of this architect.Before finishing your gastrocultural tour of the Costa Daurada, take the opportunity to have a vermouth, a typical Reus drink.
