Benvinguts a Pagès, the great festival of the Catalan peasantry For one weekend a year, the producers of the territory open the doors of their farms and workshops to show you the work they do, in the cultivation of the field or with the pasture. Benvinguts a Pagès is an opportunity to get closer to the farms and fill your pantry by buying their local products. This project was born in 2016, as part of Catalonia's candidacy, European Region of Gastronomy, in order to make the work of the Catalan peasantry known to all citizens. It is therefore a landmark project with a long history, which will celebrate 10 years in 2025. During Benvinguts a Pagès, several tourist agents join the set of producers to make up an offer of more than 430 agri-food and fishing farms, food processors, rural tourism accommodation, restaurants and promoters of complementary activities. The activities are spread throughout Catalonia and are held simultaneously during the weekend. All participants collaborate in the promotion of local and local products and open their doors to you for free, with prior reservation. Benvinguts a Pagès, also throughout the year From 2021, the project also offers a proposal valid 365 days a year, beyond the original big weekend. Benvinguts a Pagès Tot l’Any allows you to enjoy more than a hundred fun and exclusive tourist activities, starring farmers, ranchers, beekeepers, processors and fishermen who spread their trade. The paid visits to the more than 120 participating farms offer unique experiences from January to December, and to practically all Catalan counties. For example, you can spend a day as a family at the farm of Mas la Coromina, in the Garrotxa, and experience the live milking of cows, as well as tasting their milk. Or you can discover the secrets of rice production in the old mill of Lo Nostre Arròs, in Montsià, while walking through the rice paddies. You also have accommodation and restaurants committed to local products, visits to producers and other complementary activities. You can get to know the wineries of the Rutes del Vi (Wine Routes in Catalonia), visit oil mills and taste all kinds of local products, such as honey, vegetables, fruit, cheeses and sausages, almonds and hazelnuts... The wide range of activities encourages local sales, highlights the work of the farmers and also the local product. Discover where what you eat comes from, buy products without intermediaries and delve into the work in the field, the pasture, the farm and the workshop. 16 routes to discover the Catalan territory In addition, Benvinguts a Pagès Tot l’Any features 16 agrotourism routes to delve into Catalonia.
