This is the most extensive beach of the four in Roda de Berà. It has ramps and amphibious chairs for people of limited mobility, a children’s park, beach bars and other services.
El Francàs es la playa más extensa de las cuatro que forman el litoral del municipio de Roda de Barà, todas integradas en la franja de la Costa Daurada. It is the town´s last beach before getting to the neighbouring municipality of El Vendrell, which has another beach with the same name.
It is more than one kilometre long and forty metres wide. It is mainly formed by fine golden sand, that borders calm clear waters, without a pronounced entry slope into the sea. This quality, together with that of its services has made it win the Blue Flag awarded by the Department of Environmental Issues.
It has many services: signalling, lifeguard and rescue, access for the disabled which includes amphibious chairs, parking area for vehicles, showers, portable toilets, restaurant bar, drinks and ice cream beach bar, and a sports zone. There is a children´s park for the younger ones.
A little more than 1.5 kilometres away from the beach lies the peculiar and highly recommended residential complex of Roc de Sant Gaietà, a complex of typical Mediterranean style houses located on a natural rock promontory. A little further away, but easily accessible, in the municipality of Tarragona, we find the famous Berà arch, a triumphal arch of the Roman period built on the course of the old via Augusta.
