Punished for being an important focal point for the resistance against the troops of Philip V, the town of Talamanca lost its castle after the War of the Spanish Succession. What stands today is an 18th-century reconstruction, but it does offer the chance to take an in-depth look at this town of mediaeval origin: it is the venue for the Battle of Talamanca Interpretation Centre, which tells of the encounter which, according to the chronicles of the time, involved 5,000 soldiers fighting the whole day long.
