The Sa Riera beach, surrounded by cliffs covered with vegetation, is the largest in the municipality of Begur and the nearest to its village.
To access it you must take the ring road from the town of Begur and walk about three kilometres. Another road, which runs parallel to the coast, connects this beach with those of Sa Tuna and Aiguafreda. Around the bay there are scattered cottages, as well as bars, restaurants and a couple of hotels. It is quite hidden among the pines and integrated into the landscape.
It is 200 metres long by fifty wide and is formed of coarse-grain golden sand. It offers all types of services, like showers, parking, surveillance service and access ramps for the disabled. On the right, some old fishermen´s houses - now converted into holiday apartments - and boats stranded in the sand give it a nice colorful touch. It also has a yacht club, in which sea related sports can be practiced. The beach is flanked by two small coves: Port des Pi, on the right, and Rei on the left.
A coastal footpath leads, to the left, to the beautiful nudist beach L´Illa Roja, located just half a kilometre away, and continues to the Racó beach and the Pals beach. On the right, the trail leads to Aiguafreda and Sa Tuna, passing by some spectacular cliffs under which there is the Ses Negres marine reserve, ideal for diving.
