Casa de la Pia Almoina house is also known as La Canonja because Augustinian canons lived in the original building from the 10th century until the year 1369.
Built in a Gothic style, the highlight of the main façade is the voussoired portal forming a semicircular arch. The building was extended in 1546, partially demolishing the Roman wall and incorporating one of the towers. Inside the building, the main staircase to the first floor has been conserved with remains of mediaeval graffiti in the stucco on its walls, the tower and the remains of the wall.
In the mid-19th century, the institution practically came to an end. In 1989 it was rehabilitated and went on to house the Museu Diocesà museum.
