The meticulous production process begins with an exhaustive selection of the best grapes from the winery's 300-hectare estate, situated between 1640 and 2624 feet above sea level and planted primarily with indigenous varieties such as Garnacha Negra, Samsó, Xarel·lo, Parellada and, particularly, Sumoll.
Mont-Rubí has been one of the main defenders of Sumoll, a traditional variety in Penedès that was on the verge of extinction. Under the guidance of Josep Queralt, the heart and soul of the bodega and a passionate admirer of the area - he grew up next to the winery -, the firm was a pioneer in the production of Sumoll red wines. The success of Gaintus (100% Sumoll) has contributed decisively to the resurgence of this variety.
In the village of L'Avellà, where Mont-Rubí is located, there is the winery, the Boutique Hotel Casa Gran 1771, and the Villa, an architectural work of the late nineteenth century fully restored, with different outdoor and indoor spaces, prepared for the celebration of events.
