Mediterranean Route. Section 2: Montcada i Reixac-St. Adrià de Besòs

The route from Montcada i Reixac to Sant Adrià de Besòs is the second section of the Mediterranean route, the regional cycling route that complements the international EuroVelo8 route. The Mediterranean route 3 offers new cycling opportunities along the Catalan coastline, specifically in the regions of Vallès Oriental, Vallès Occidental, Barcelonès, Baix Llobregat, Alt Penedès and Baix Penedès.

At the starting point of this section, Mediterranean Route 3 follows green round of the Front Marítim-BCN and the green round of the river park (the Besòs axis). The northern part connects with the Montcada i Reixac train station after crossing the bridge over the river as well as the railway tracks in the barrier-enabled passage. Further north, where the river Besòs can be crossed by a bridge, route 3 connects with the green roundabout of the Parc de les Aigües. About 500 meters higher, it also connects with the network of paths of the Vallès Natural, which enters the most mountainous area.

From Montcada i Reixac we can reach Sant Adrià de Besòs crossing Santa Coloma de Gramenet by the Besòs river park.

During the opening hours of the Besòs river park, you can cycle the route along the river. In case of closure of the park or high number of visitors, the Mediterranean route must be followed by the urban plot of Sant Adrià de Besòs and Santa Coloma de Gramenet. In the Besòs river park you can observe a unique flora and fauna of the Mediterranean region.

From Santa Coloma de Gramenet to Montcada i Reixac, it coincides with the Bicivia 8.
