Le Méridien Ra Beach Hotel & Spa

The Le Méridien Ra Beach Hotel & Spa is a luxury resort that offers the Explore Spa, Kids Club, creative meeting rooms and weddings on the beachhead. It has four restaurants: DO, La Taula, Grill de la Piscina and Beach Club, all related to the sea. You can have a drink by the sea in the Longitude Bar.

With 7,200 square metres devoted to wellbeing, and located on the seafront, the Ra Beach is one of the largest and most exclusive thalassotherapy centres in Europe. The complex was opened in 2004. It was built following the refurbishment and new building extension of the former sanatorium of Sant Joan de Déu, which dates from 1929. The restoration work obtained several architecture awards.

The outside and the building naves preserve their original Moorish appearance, but the inside is decorated in an austere and minimalist style. The wellness centre also received an award in 2005 from Thermaspa magazine.

The thermal spa treatments and the water area use seawater, drawn from the beach in front of the centre. In fact, some of the treatments using seaweed make use of a nearby area where these plants grow, rather than use processed and packaged seaweed, which is the normal practice in the majority of wellness centres.

Next to the hotel reception, on the ground floor, is the wellness centre. The waiting room has armchairs and a small zen garden with a fountain. There, visitors are served with tea. The health centre has 48 wellbeing booths and fifteen more cosmetic booths providing an equivalent number of services.

Some examples include: massages include Ayurveda, Thai, caviar refresher for eyes, strawberry facial emulsion with an aloe vera base, etc. There is also a service for hair removal, pedicure, UVA rays and hairdresser. Finally, the space has a medical centre equipped to carry out general check ups and diet treatments.

The water area is on the roof, on the second floor, beneath an iron and glass dome. Here there is a large pool which is both temperature controlled and dynamic (with bubbles, currents, jets, etc.) and another smaller pool for dipping before entering the sauna. They also have a Turkish bath and a relaxation room with ozone-enriched air (O2). There is a door on to the terrace, which has loungers for sunbathing and sea views.

There is another pool outside, a solarium and gardens. The hotel also has a gym with instructors for yoga and Pilates. Pool activities include aquagym, aquatone and aquarunning.
