The Cap Roig botanical garden is situated on the top of a cliff with views of the Mediterranean sea, in the heart of the Costa Brava. This spot has been the venue for different events and, since 2002, has been the site of a festival which has featured performers of the stature of Georges Moustaki, Julio Iglesias, Joaquín Cortés, Paul Anka and Caetano Veloso.

It is held each summer in the auditorium of the Jardins de Cap Roig and has become one of the most established festivals of Catalonia. The numbers confirm this: in the latest editions approximately 43,000 people have attended.

The key to its success is the combination of a line-up full of top names and its privileged location overlooking the splendour of the Empordà coast.

The event includes performances of both orchestras and singer-songwriters, as well as rock groups and dance companies. Different styles such as jazz, opera and world music are also performed, always by top-flight artists.

The botanical garden was created thanks to the efforts of the Woevodsky family, who acquired the land in the year 1927 and carried out significant landscaping work. Currently, more than five hundred species of Mediterranean, tropical and subtropical flora can be found here.

Caixa de Girona has managed the gardens since 1969 and is also responsible for the organisation of the festival.
