Tavertet

Guide to the Municipalities
Declared an Asset of Cultural Interest, the town of Tavertet boasts spectacular spots where the woods and cliffs bounded by the Ter valley give it a special charm. It is no coincidence that it was the place of residence of Catalan thinker Raimon Panikkar in the last years of his life. For centuries, the Carrer de Dalt, Carrer del Mig and Carrer de Baix comprised the structure of a town that still boasts houses from the 18th and 19th centuries alongside its wild countryside.

The essentials

- Explore the cliffs.

Economic activity

Mountain agriculture, with the classic crops of cereals, fodder, potatoes and pulses, still plays an important role in the municipality’s economy. Pig farming is an activity that has increased considerably. Although the municipality experienced a notable drop in the population years ago, it has currently recovered and even grown, thanks to the residential activity on the weekends.
