The Festival of Sant Jordi, celebrated every 23 April
all over Catalonia, is one of the festivities that we most identify with.
Throughout the day, friends and lovers exchange books and roses.
Every 23 April, come rain or come shine as tradition dictates, the people of Barcelona go out on the street and buy a book, a rose or both. Bookshops in the city set up their stalls all over the town, but the biggest concentration is on La Rambla.
