Cuina de l'Empordanet

Under the name of Cuina de l'Empordanet, in 1995 some restaurants from the districts of El Baix and El Alt Empordà got together to promote cuisine of El Empordà in Catalonia and throughout the world by organising different gastronomic events.

The districts in El Empordà have a vast gastronomic range based on the sea and the mountains. This tourist area in Catalonia is home to restaurants with great international prestige. Under the name of Cuina de l'Empordanet, in 1995 some restaurants from different towns from the districts of El Baix and El Alt Empordà got together to publicise cuisine of El Empordà in Catalonia and throughout the world.

Cuina de l'Empordanet is a group which today is made up of 20 restaurants. In order to promote its gastronomy they publish books on El Empordà's cuisine, organise cooking competitions for young restaurateurs and gastronomic  demonstrations with local produce, give cooking classes and form part of gastronomic groups. On an international level they have participated in various activities and gastronomic demonstrations held in Milan, Paris, Berlin or Turin.
