Mas Vicenç is a family enterprise started in 2005 (first vintage) but arising from a long vine growing and winemaking. tradition Vicenç Ferré began his oenology studies in 2000. This motivated the family to remodel the family house to include a small but modern cellar where they could make quality wines from the grapes harvested from their 35 hectares of vineyards.
These vineyards are spread among four estates in this part of the Miramar range, near the border between the DO Tarragona and the DO Conca de Barberà. They use the white varieties Macabeo and Chardonnay, in addition to Muscat of Frontignan, which they buy from another vine grower, as well as the red varieties Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cariñena and Syrah. The grapes used to produce Mas Vicenç wines are harvested by hand following a careful selection in the vineyards.
The name "Mas Vicenç" comes from the oenologist´s great grandfather, who bought the estate after working on it as a farmer. Cisco Ferré and Maria Morató, Vicenç Ferré´s parents, participate in the project as well. Cisco tends the vines and works in the cellar, while Maria is the manager and head of sales.
Guests can tour the vineyards surrounding the farmhouse. They also can learn about the winemaking process in the cellar which, in addition to the house, occupies an area once used as a pigsty. Finally, guests can sample the wines on a nice patio or in the shop, where the firm's wine and other regional products are sold. By appointment, guests can include lunch in their visit.
