Can Ràfols dels Caus is a 450-hectare estate in the northern foothills of the Garraf massif. The manor house dates back to 1634. It was abandoned and had fallen into disuse when, in 1989, Carlos Esteva inherited it and installed a cellar for making wines to his taste, thereby recovering a family tradition that had brought the family prestige with the winning of various medals in 19th century expositions. The farmhouse was restored with great care. Esteva's passion for contemporary art gave it a very personal touch, contrasting the traditional architecture with modern decorative elements.

Visits begin in the courtyard of the farmhouse. From there, guests can see several plots of vineyards while learning about the distribution of the 52 hectares of vineyard in the abrupt and aggressive terrain. The vineyards are planted with the varieties (Xarello, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chenin Blanco, Pinot Noir, Incrozzio Manzonni and up to fifteen different varieties. The winery shuns the use of chemicals. After the vineyard, guests follow the winemaking process in vinification and ageing room, an ultra-modern construction that while much larger than the previous one doesn't alter the surroundings, given that it is entirely underground. The kitchen in the farmhouse is the last stop on the tour. There guests can enjoy a sampling of some of the firm's products.

Can Piula was formerly the home of the shepherd on Can Ràfols dels Caus Estate in 17th century. Today, it functions as a rural hotel which can accommodate up to seven people, offering guests the possibility of enjoying the Penedès winemaking tradition in a privileged place surrounded by vineyards and the mountains ofGarraf Natural Park.
