Bodegas Abadal

Masies d'Avinyó Winery was created in 1983 with the aim of recovering the quality winemaking tradition in the region of Bages. Vast stretches of vineyard surrounded the farmhouse until the end of the 19th century, when the phylloxera plague transformed the landscape.

Today, Masies d'Avinyó is the largest and most important company in the DOP de Bages. The winery played a large role in the creation of this designation.

It supervises a total of 127 hectares of vineyard (70 of its own and 57 of other vine growers) planted with the white varieties Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Picapoll and the reds Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc, Sumoll, Tempranillo, Merlot, Syrah and Mandó. With this fruit, it produces ten wines under the name Abadal (some are among the best of the designation of origin and have been recognized in several international competitions ).

Visits to Abadal Winery captivate guests due to the lush setting of the vineyards and dense forests surrounding them. It is a place with a long vine growing tradition, of which the dry stone structures scattered across the estates are mute witnesses.

Starting with these popular constructions , some of the most significant of the company and the region, guests can take a guided tour of the winery. The tour includes visiting the cellar in a 12th century farmhouse, which survives in its original state.

Guests can also visit the wine museum, with barrels, tools and objects more than 300 years old, and see the collection of old carriages and transport vehicles, in addition to visiting the current cellar and barrel room.

A sampling of Picapoll white wine, a native variety and the most representative of Pla de Bages, in the air conditioned tasting room is the perfect way to the end the tour.
