Benifallet

Guide to the Municipalities
The section of the river Ebro between Xerta and Miravet offers, upon passing by Benifallet, one of the most charming landscapes of the river. The fact is that nature distinguishes this municipality surrounded by orange trees and very beautiful spaces.

The path of the caves (a space that combines water and stone with unique formations), the mountain range of Cardó (the invisible mountain, hidden among other mountain ranges, with a virgin ecosystem) and the green way (an extremely charming wild landscape) are just some of the surprises offered to us by the municipality.

The essentials

- Go on a guided tour of the caves of Benifallet on 1st May (day of the Caves Festival), where you can enjoy the designs of nature.
- Follow the green route on foot or by bicycle.
- Navigate on the river Ebro with the boats that the boatsmen used.
- See the chapels that are still preserved around the convent and the hermitage of Cardó, in the valley of Cardó.
- Visit the archaeological site of Castellot de la Roca Roja.

Economic activity

The municipality’s most important economic activity is dry farming, primarily olive, carob and almond trees. Vineyards and cereals are on the decline. The irrigated land, which is not extensive, is located on the left bank of the Ebro River. Today, tourism is another of the town’s economic drivers, with caves and river activity oriented towards both river traffic and fishing.
