Located at an altitude of 1,750 metres, Banhs de Tredòs is the highest thermal spa resort in Europe and also one of the smallest. Its remote location, in the heart of natural surroundings, gives it great charm.
The three star hotel has eight rooms, all with baths fed by hot spring water. The other facilities consist of an outdoor swimming pool, a Finnish sauna, hydro massage baths, Vichy showers and a massage cubicle.
The spring water, which was already known to the Romans, is sulphurous and emerges at 32 degrees Centigrade. This enables the pool to be used even in the middle of the winter.
The spa resort is in the Val d'Aran. It can be reached from Salardú along a tarmac forest track. When the track is blocked by snow, access is only possible by snow mobile. The hotel management has a guide available for clients.
There is no mobile phone coverage or television reception. The hotel´s access and communication difficulties make it a very special place that enables guests to disconnect and recover from the stress caused by everyday life.
There is a cross country ski circuit in the area around the hotel, which also hires out snow shoes for hiking. The management also helps to organise transport to the Baquèira-Beret ski resort using snow mobiles.
The spa resort is very close to the Parc Nacional d'Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici, and is a good starting-point for climbing the surrounding mountains.
