Economic activity

The municipality’s economy is divided into various sectors and differentiated by towns. The growing of fruit (orange trees), as well as almond and olive trees, is practised to the south and inland, being the modus vivendi, together with services, of a large part of the population centre or Alcanar. The sea town of Les Cases d´Alcanar is primarily dedicated to fishing (especially prawn). A large part of the tourist activities in the Montsià region take place in the coastal towns of Les Cases d’Alcanar and Alcanar-Platja.
