Five months of activities surrounding the world of Xató in Alt Penedès, Baix Penedès and El Garraf, where you can try this traditional dish and discover these regions.
The Xató Route allows you to discover this winter dish that combines crunchy endive mixed with the tender texture of cod and tuna, and the acidic note of fresh or salt anchovies. All this is enveloped in an exquisite sauce made from dried fruit, ñora sweet red peppers and virgin olive oil among other ingredients.
For five months, the Alt Penedès, Baix Penedès and El Garraf regions are a flurry of cultural and gastronomic activity surrounding the world of xató. All the establishments that form part of the Route offer various culinary options that incorporate xató, preparing this delicious dish as a creative appetiser, as a small taster and in many other ways.
The Xató Route also allows you to enjoy many hidden gems: as well as eating this dish, you can discover incredible beaches, fiestas that are unique worldwide, inspiring museums, natural parks, authentic wines and the region's culture, with activities for all tastes.
But there are also unmissable events where you can try this dish every season: the "Festival del Xató" in Vilanova de la Geltrú in November; the "Xatonada" Popular Festival in El Vendrell on the first weekend in February; the Xató Week in Sitges during the Carnival; the "Festa del Xató" in Vilafranca del Penedès at the end of February, and the "Xatonada" Popular Festival in Calafell in the middle of March.
