The day begins in the Queralt mountain range, the balcony of Catalonia. The views from the shrine of Queralt are spectacular: you can see the mountains of the Montseny and Sant Llorenç de Munt and the Obac mountain range as well as the villages and valleys that surround Queralt. If your family is into hiking, you can start climbing the range from Berga. If you prefer a gentle stroll, you can drive up to the shrine in your car and from there walk along the nearby tracks. The shrine of Queralt is the start and end point of some long-distance trails such as the camí de Bons Homes, the path of Good Men, as well as of short routes and local paths.

This area is a delight for mushroom pickers. Berga is the capital of the red pine mushroom. They grow abundantly and picking them is a good choice for spending a family weekend: going on a mushroom hunt, filling up the basket and taking the opportunity to stroll through Berga's forests. At lunchtime, with a full or empty basket, the area around Queralt abounds in restaurants offering the best autumn mushroom cuisine. The rest of the year they serve dishes from the local cuisine.

In the afternoon, the streets of Berga's old district reveal its industrial past and the traces of bygone wars. In Berga's Interpretation Centre you will be given an explanation of the history of the municipality and the details of the everyday lives of earlier inhabitants. In the Cercs Mine Museum you can discover the area's mining past and enter into the very heart of the mine on a wagon.

If you prefer activities in natural surroundings, the reservoir of La Baells is a good choice. Here you can practice aquatic activities such as canoeing, or enjoy a horse ride in the surroundings. This is certain to be a success with the children.

And don't miss out on the Patum, Berga's quintessential festival and listed as an intangible heritage of humanity. It is held on the Corpus Christi festivity and should be enjoyed as a family, especially the children's Patum on the Friday. It is staged like the adult festival but on a smaller scale, and children prepare all year long to make it a success. If you can't come for the Corpus feast, you can view a taster throughout the year in the Patum House.

The day is ending and it is time to relax. You will feel completely at home in the swimming pools, spas and saunas or in the various types of accommodation available throughout the region.
