The artist Yukiko Murata (Ishikawa, Japan, 1961) lives in Barcelona where she has given courses on Japanese glass and ceramics. She has given numerous individual and collective exhibitions in Spain, Japan, Germany, United States, Switzerland, Belgium, Holland and Great Britain, and has created windows for some churches in Lleida. A ceramist and glassmaker, her creative work combines sensitivity and Japanese technique with a special interest for allegory and nature. Her objects arise from the play between figurative representation and metaphorical insinuation, where things lose their apparent meaning. A functional piece which can fulfil its purpose and implicitly carry a message which often refers to nature or Japanese tradition.
