The Vallter 2000 Alpine skiing resort is the easternmost resort of the Catalan Pyrenees. It is located in the region of Ripollès, in the municipality of Setcases. From its highest point (2,535 metres) one can see, on clear days, the Mediterranean Sea along the Costa Brava coast.
The resort’s base is located at 2,000 metres, despite the fact that the lowest point is at the Ulldeter refugi (lodge) at 1,959 metres. It is a small resort with thirteen runs for all skill levels and 17.8 kilometres of skiable trails.
Vallter 2000 offers an intense mountain experience. Its geographic location, in a glacial cirque surrounded by peaks of over 2,800 metres (such as the Bastiments), favours good snow conditions. In fact, when the sea-influenced wind blows from the east, snow thicknesses of over a metre high are often reached.
The services offered at Vallter 2000 include a children’s snow park, competition stadium, ski school, up to four cafeterias and a medical service at the foot of the runs. In addition, lovers of freeriding can enjoy numerous trails on the mountain. Other activities can also be enjoyed, such as mountain skiing and going on interesting snowshoeing excursions in the surroundings.
During the summer, the resort becomes an active mountain activities centre. Aside from the main chair lift remaining open, activities such as paragliding, horseback riding, walking, canyoning, quad biking, golf, tennis and paintball are offered.
