Guided tour to the monumental complex Turó de la Seu Vella hill, the ancient cathedral, also known as the Castle of Lleida. Here, either from the Baluard de la Llengua de Serp bastion or from the Baluard de la Reina bastion, you can enjoy fantastic views of the city. During the War of Succession, the Seu Vella (ancient headquarter) saw the sacking of the city and how it was converted into a prison by the Bourbon authorities. Turned into an outstanding arts centre, it is a visual reference of a rich and powerful diocese for the artistic elements preserved in the building such as the medieval architecture, the sculpture preserved in capitals, the cornices and the remains of mural painting. All these elements are a reflection of the history of a such prestigious building. The tour takes place on the outside, seeing the fortification and ends inside the Seu cathedral, always told from the events that occurred during the War in 1707. The guided tour ends with a 15 minute audio-visual presentation entitled "1707, unhappy annum." After the tour inside the Seu Vella cathedral, it is worth visiting the Claustre cloister and climbing up to the Campanar bell-tower.
Unguided tour to La Suda castle or castle of the King. It is a building situated at the very top of the hill Seu Vella (ancient headquarter). Of Muslim origin, the castle was served as a place of refuge for Austrian soldiers and the population during the year 1707 until its surrender to the Bourbon army. From 1 April to 30 November, the tour will be on Sundays and public holidays at 11.00h in Catalan. Minimum 8 people.
