Tourist Quality: Our Challenge and Our Future.
Catalonia boasts a high level of tourist quality services that ensure its competitive presence as a tourist destination.
Currently, two large projects are being pursued:
Categorisation of rural tourism establishments: allows for identifying and classifying accommodations according to the provisions and services they offer.
The model is structured around five categories, from one to five levels of quality, that assess the following criteria: Surroundings of the house and building, Interior spaces (common areas, rooms and bathrooms), Furniture, decoration and facade, Exterior space, Marketing conditions, Guest services, Proposals for activities in surrounding areas (cultural, environmental, family, agritourism, sports, active tourism, health, gastronomy, etc.).
Distinctive gastronomic speciality: for small hotels, boarding houses and similar establishments (maximum of 50 rooms and 100 beds). Gastronomic specialty is part of a tourist quality model that aims at responding to the needs of cultural tourism and, at the same time, of the country. It seeks to preserve the personality, identity and products of the territory, offering them as added value.
The main themes on which specialty is based are: Family-run and close contact, Quality and comfortable accommodations, Quality gastronomic offer in which Catalan dishes prepared with local, Protected Designation of Origin and Protected Geographical Indication products play a primary role. Territorial promotion at the economic and cultural level
Soon classification systems for tourist apartments and homes will be approved. They will be classified from one to five keys according to the services and amenities they offer.
