Throughout the year, the Catalan tourist board performs actions to promote Catalonia as a tourist destination and to support the country's tourist industry. It aims at different target audiences and strategic markets around the world.

The trade fairs are one of the most effective events to promote Catalonia as a destination. The Catalan Tourist Board participates in the largest tourism fairs held in Catalonia, in Spain and abroad. There are three large markets in which Catalonia is involved: domestic, local (France and Spain) and international.

One way to promote the commercialisation of Catalan tourist products is via the workshops, which are planned to provide a meeting place between offer and demand. Three different types are organised: direct workshops, which are given on the issuing markets; inverse workshops, organised a destination, and; internal workshops, which promote exclusive networking with the Catalan offer.
Buy Catalunya is the most important workshop organised by the Catalan Tourist Board. It gathers nearly 200 Catalan companies and 150 tour operators from 25 international markets and aims to bring Catalan businesspeople into contact with the tour operators and other intermediary channels with the target. The Catalan Tourist Boardacts as host to display Catalonia. And it does so through trips. These are organised trips for an influential group of providers to see Catalonia as a tourist destination and then promote it and commercialise it. Every year it programmes around sixty trips, between general and specific. Three different types are made: ‘fam trips', 'press trips' and 'blog trips'.
