There is a new type of sport available for sea and sky enthusiasts: parascending, which combines the speed of a small boat with the sensation of paragliding, and offers guaranteed thrills. Parascending (also known as parasailing or water-parachuting) is a type of paragliding that combines a parachute flight with a ride on a motorboat, to which it is attached. The force of the air gently lifts riders into the sky for an amazing flight which provides a bird’s eye view. This experience is suitable for people of all ages and interests, and is offered individually or in couples. Flights normally go up to a height of one hundred metres and last about eight minutes, although the entire trip can last up to an hour and a half. While you wait for your turn to fly, you can relax on the boat and enjoy the scenery. This activity is best done first thing in the morning, when the air is calm. There are various adventure sports companies, especially along the Costa Brava coast, and they also provide the equipment. These include the Styxmotor in Roses, which organises parascending trips from 15 April to 15 October.
