Sea and sky enthusiasts have a new sports activity, parascending, which combines the speed of a small boat with the sensation of paragliding. Intense emotions are guaranteed.
Parascending (also known as parasailing or water parachuting) is a type of paragliding that combines a parachute flight with a ride on a motorboat, to which it is attached. The force of the air gently lifts riders up to the sky for a unique trip with a bird’s eye view. An experience that is suitable for people of all ages and interests, which is offered individually or as a pair.
Flights normally go up to one hundred metres in height and last about eight minutes, although the entire trip can last up to an hour and a half. While waiting for their turn to fly, one can enjoy the boat and the scenery.
This activity is usually done first thing in the morning, when the air is calm. Adventure sports companies, especially along the Costa Brava coast, provide the equipment. Amongst them, Styxmotor in Roses offers parascending trips from 15 April to 15 October.
