This is a good dessert for the cold winter months, above all if engaged in any kind of hard work. Figs and almonds are both highly energetic and healthy products. A similar breakfast would be some dried fig loaf with a piece of toast and a handful of almonds.
Place a peeled almond inside each fig, taking care not to crack them, and gently flatten with your hand. Heat the figs gently in a frying pan. When they are hot on one side, turn them over. Pour a generous trickle of aniseed liqueur over the top and bring to the boil. Quickly remove to a plate and serve hot.
