Sweets and pastries usually provide the finishing touch to a festive meal, and with the passage of time these have become veritable culinary treasures here in Catalonia. The best-known are the Catalan crème caramel and the honey and curd cheese, but there are also bunyols (doughnuts), sponge cakes, cocas (typical Catalan pastries) and the traditional panellets (marzipan pastries).
