The extra virgin olive oil produced in at the cooperative’s mill is obtained from cold pressing olives of the arbequina variety that are grown in local area and harvested mainly by hand. The whole process is completed with a great deal of care to avoid altering the natural biological and organoleptic properties of the olives.
The Cooperativa de Maldà’s brand oil is fruity with a good body, clean, leaf and grass aroma and almond flavour with a slightly bitter and peppery finish. It is sold in 75-cl bottles and two- or five-litre carafes. The cooperative only offers informal visits for customers, who are able to receive an explanation of the oil production process and tour of the premises where the olives are pressed.
