Visitors to the cooperative have the chance to tour of the facilities and machinery while receiving a detailed explanation of the various stages of the production process, the olive varieties employed, and the characteristics of the final product. At the end of the tour, there is the habitual extra virgin olive oil tasting session, complete with Melba toast and the traditional tomato bread. Visitors can also purchase the cooperative’s products at the shop. By prior request, it is also possible to combine a visit to the facilities with a visit to the local Terracotta Museum.
Cooperativa de La Galera forms part of the Acomont group of cooperatives, which has shared packaging facilities in Ulldecona. The main differentiating feature of this oil is that it is produced using a proportion of olives from thousand-year-old olive trees.
