Cooperativa de La Bisbal de Falset was founded in 1951, when local residents purchased the Molí del Fuster, one of the town’s five mills. Today, the cooperative boasts modern machinery that allows it to produce top-quality olive oil. The oil itself is smooth, with a maximum acidity level of 0.3°. It has a fruity, aromatic and flavorful palate thanks to the cold press method used in its production.
The cooperative’s facilities are located in the town centre, where visitors are able to take a structured tour of the mill followed by a tasting session of an extra virgin olive oil made using the arbequina variety. They also get to take home a gift of a 50 cl bottle of oil. A visit to this cooperative allows the general public to learn some more about olive farming in this particular area, which is characterized by an uneven terrain and cold winters.
