The Montsec-La Noguera MTB centre involves three towns (Àger, Les Avellanes i Santa Linya, and Os de Balaguer) under the shadow of the Montsec mountain range. There are 507 kilometres of MTB circuits, divided into 23 routes with varying levels of difficulty and perfectly signposted. For example, the Bosc del Monestir route, graded easy, ending at the monastery of Les Avellanes with over two and a half kilometres of trail; or more testing routes such as Mont-Rebei-La Pertusa, which leads to the Mare de Déu de la Pertusa sanctuary. This last route finishes at the Vall d’Àger campsite and covers 36.5 kilometres of steep terrain.
All the routes run through the region of La Noguera, the largest in Catalonia. It is in the Pre-Pyrenees in the province of Lleida. This is an area which is blessed with a great diversity of landscapes and where you can still find practically untouched places to relish being in silence.
The trails run through canyons such as Mont-Rebei; high mountain areas with impressive views; cultural heritage sites such as the collegiate church of Sant Pere d’Àger, in the town of Àger; and around reservoirs, like Santa Anna, Canelles —with the highest dam in Catalonia— and Camarasa, which together form the largest area of still water in Catalonia.
There are two accommodation options: the Vall d’Àger campsite, open all year round, and the monastery of Les Avellanes. The three information points available are in Os de Balaguer, Tartareu and Fontdepou.
